Thao is 23 years old, she has been the volunteer in charge of the pre-tutoring for School on the Boat for 1 month.
Set up at the beginning of the school year, pre-tutoring is a recreative and pedagogical time for children before and after their tutoring sessions.
We asked her a few questions to know more about her and her feelings on this new adventure!
What are your hobbies?
Walking and writing are my cup of tea! These activities give me time to relax and breathe fresh air.
After a hard-working day, I enjoy having time to do my favourite activities!
What is your current mission for SOTB?
I have two responsibilities: taking care of children and creating enjoyable activities before and after their tutoring sessions.
Why did you choose to work for School On Boat?
First of all, I adore children. Secondly, my college major in university is social work which main purpose is to help disadvantaged people in effective ways. My major is also about organization, on this, SOTB is a good exercise.
Finally, I am really happy to work in a multicultural environment. I have the chance to know more about other cultures in School On Boat which has international volunteers.
Why is it important for you to work for an organization who are helping kids?
In my opinion, children are the future of a country. Educating children is an important task for parents, schools, other organizations and the government.
For me, NGO/NPO brings other results and I really appreciate their role to help the most vulnerable population.
